Once you have OWP, you can apply for CCB.

You might qualify for CCB. Depends if you have reached the 18 months of being resident by that point.

Because at the time... July 24..he said I would have pretty much the same process time for OWP and second stage, and he said I could save $ by not applying and I chose not to. Everything change since that.

The only reason I would apply now is to be eligible for CCB. I have no status and I'm not sure I would qualify for CCB once I receive the OWP.

Believe you would still need to wait the 18 months given you currently have no status. Something you should certainly verify with CRA.

The current immigration crisis would not be fixed unless 2.5 million temporary residents (particularly working class immigrants) in Canada are transitioned to PR. The new proposed bill C12 … would only make the problem worse, because it will just transfer huge backlog from IRCC to PRRA and judicial system.

That was never going to happen even without c12.

I still haven't received my CSQ package to star my CSQ application. Is this normal ?? Who should i call to know what is happening

Have you seen anything similar in any other circumstances?

How long does Wil take for the CSQ?

Estimated time left ; 36 months left , so need to Waite another 36 months for final decision, or it calculates for AIP ???

Is changing the province is good option for me? Or will my file be thrown in with the 50,000 others who are waiting?




Any suggestion or opinion from guys will be greatly appreciated.

Really tough to recommend anything these days without knowing what reforms the government plans to make, without seeing the updated immigration targets (we should get it soon), etc.

Not quite, but IRCC will have the authority to cancel applications in the inventory. However, mass cancellations would be different from those done in the past, since the majority of applicants are already living in Canada on temporary permits. This makes it much more challenging to carry out such cancellations.

Many are out of status at this point or will be out of status soon. Some are visitors so those permits could be cancelled or not extended.

Im curious about something, with the math and processing times. If someone’s application says 49 more more months (aip already received) remaining as there are 4500+ applicants ahead. targets for 2026 are 6900, and 2027 are 4300, and i understand even in h&c theres sub categories but even after reviewing them
Is the math/assumption for processing times that all the 4500+ ahead will be accepted at eligibility? From what i understand 50% is rejection rate, i still cant figure out the full logic with new processing times

You will qualify for ccb after 18 months on valid permit and receive ccb at 19 month..
But you need to apply for ccb after owp to receive other benefits like GST after tax filling and calculating family income.

Based on previous data general H&C seems to only have been allocated around 1/5th of the total H&C quota so closer to 1k/yr. A large percentage of those who received AIP typically received PR. If the program continues as is that could change because of the much longer processing times where people’s circumstance may change. For example someone health, ability to support themselves financially or criminal record can change over 49 months. 50% used to be the approval rate for all general H&Cs. Believe it is lower now. Given we don’t know what will happen with H&C tough to comment on what will happen in general. The program is no longer functional so I would expect changes. What changes will depend on what bill may the government can pass, what the IRCC lawyers think is possible, how aggressive IRCC is trying to be, etc.

Have you received AIP? Criminality is normally 2nd stage step after getting AIP, however it can change from case to case basis based on my understanding. I have AIP and my file is stuck at this criminality /background test stage and taking for ever. Some other experienced member of this group will be able to advise more precisely. GL

If there are no reforms you still have around 32 months if processing left. There is a high chance of reforms to this program. I would be exploring other immigration options.

I don’t know how many times this needs to be repeated even though you may not be an expert in immigration law, you have certainly acquired enough knowledge here and there to understand that humanitarian applicants and I mean the true humanitarian applicants have no other choice. If they did, they would have chosen it instead of this much more complex and burdensome process.
A humanitarian and compassionate application is the last resort for people in highly critical situations who would face severe hardship if they were not granted this exceptional relief the possibility of becoming permanent residents on humanitarian grounds.
You keep reminding us of the importance of exploring other programs, but real applicants those who cannot leave Canada and have genuine humanitarian reasons have no alternative paths. Your suggestions apply only to those who mistakenly believe that the humanitarian stream is just another simple option, when in fact it is not.

Well, not trying to put to fine a point on it, since all other avenues have failed, it would seem their situations aren't as desperate as you make them out. They could, actually, leave.
