Hey I am going through the citizenship application and have a question about how to fill out the physical presence calculator. I graduated July 19, 2020, and applied for PGWP on July 29, 2020 which was approved Nov 19, 2020. What status should I put in for the time between my graduation and when the PGWP was approved? Should I put it in as 'temporary foreign worker'? I'm hesitate to count that as 'student' as I've finished my study then, despite me still holding a valid study permit during that time. Wondering how everyone else filled out this part, as I'm sure many of us were students and PGWP holders in the past. Thanks!

Hi! What did you do regarding this? I am thinking that it's pgwp implied status as we got the aor immediately?

I don’t know I haven’t applied and seems like no one that did wants to answer the question :(

Still confused. How about in your work history will you include part time jobs taken during your studies?

What did you end up doing?

You'd probably put the same answer that you did when applying for PR. I'm curious here - how are so many folks having this question when applying for citizenship? Surely you already had to apply for PR first, and thus already dealt with this question before...

Anyways, for citizenship, the actual type of status doesn't matter so much as long as you had valid status.

This one is a bit different - if I'm reading correctly the study permit never expired prior to the PGWP getting in hand?

I feel like you could make the case that the permit "expired" when you graduated/got your program completion letter (even though the permit would still let you stay in Canada after that date - you just can't study). Then you had an implied status because of the pending PGWP. (Even better if you got a WP-EXT prior to the PGWP - you can kinda fudge it and use this document as if it were an actual work permit for the purpose of listing statuses and dates.)

On the other hand, if you want to make the case that you were legally working full-time on your study permit based on the conditions given in https://ircc.canada.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1181 that'd probably be accepted as well.

I already checked my EE profile and the IMM5669 I sent after I had my PR ITA, and neither of those asked for that info

It should be there.

On IMM5669 specifically, you have the personal history section. (For paper apps, it's section 8 on page 2 of https://www.canada.ca/content/dam/i...sh/kits/forms/imm5669/01-05-2021/imm5669e.pdf )

What activity did you put for the time period between June 20, 2020 to Nov 18, 2020? Employment?

Personal history also asks for your status in country or territory. So what status did you put during that time? work visa? study visa?

Edit: Only familiar with the paper version, and I realized that I could simply write "implied status" or "maintained status" in the PDF and have it work. It seems most folks would fill it out online now as per https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...ication/application-forms-guides/imm5669.html but I don't know if that is a dropdown like the citizenship online app, or if you can write it in like the IMM5669 paper/PDF version... but if IRCC accepts "maintained status" for EE/PR then they should allow it as an option on the citizenship app too. Not sure why they don't.
