You can not do anything. Some might dream about petitions or lobbying, but realistically Canada will just be pleased with the money and time you’ve already poured into the system. After that, the only option will be to look for opportunities elsewhere.
The country itself feels like it’s in freefall, over the last two months alone more than 100,000 jobs were lost. Anti-immigration sentiment is now out on the streets, visible and normalized. The government will want to show they’re “addressing” this problem. If Bill C-2 applies to SUV, there will be no appeals if an application is rejected. They’ve already changed the wording in their official communications: immigration is framed as a “privilege,” not a “right.”
What I’m hoping for is simply clarity, whatever their decision, I want to know as soon as possible. Because the truth is, they’ve already made up their minds; Parliament is just going through the motions of justifying it.
And human staff can’t process the avalanche of files piling up. At the same time, with the country heading into a recession and 100K jobs lost, they’re not going to hire more officers for IRCC. The only way forward will be automation and AI, which will inevitably butcher applications, even the ones that technically fit all the criteria. That leaves little room besides humanitarian visas, refugee claims, and programs the government sees as higher social priority. From their perspective, applicants “creating opportunities” aren’t as urgent as those already consuming/abusing social support.
I want to ask that does anyone applied the WP in 2025 and got approval or refusal from IRCC. We applied in 2023 and got refusal in 2024..now we want to apply again.. So need recommendations that is it a better time to apply for it.. Our PR application was filed in june 2023 got AOR, biometric, medical was done in dec 2023. After that we didn't hear anything from IRCC except the rejection of WP application. So put your insight that what should we do now.

I saw there were some cases had WP rejected but finally they got PR approval so you shouldn't be too worried about that.
As you mentioned above "PR application was filed in june 2023 ,... medical was done in dec 2023" I assume that the medical request was only for the one who applied the WP not for PR application.
Basing on the very pessimistic situation for our SUV applications currently, If I were you I would do as follow:
1 - If your DO is priorty => Just wait and see what IRCC will request next
2- If your DO is not priority => Have better to withdraw and change to another country or another way othersise you may have wait for 10-30 years,...

- Security = Passed - Expired
- Criminality = Passed - Expired. It is now In progress
- Medical (2nd) = Passed and valid until 30-12-2025
- Information share = Complete
- Eligibility = In progress
What do you think about my application progress?

I actually got my note result last week
Nothing changed except my medical that expired
Eligibility, criminality, info sharing passed ,
Medical passed by expired
Security not started !
The last work on my application was on September 17,2024 and it’s in waiting list so far that after processing all priorities , if the empty spot found , they might continue processing
I am so frustrated to be honest

Once Eligibility is marked passed, your application is ready for decision, they will refresh security and criminality, since medical is valid till Dec 2025, for all practical purposes you will get decision by Dec 2025

I think you should open an Webform and ask them as to why Security has not started at all

The CEO of my team who is the only essential member of my team applied last year, and it took about 4 months. He first got a three year CLOSED WP which we believe was the IRCC 's mistake. We requested an amendment, and it was accepted after like three weeks. Now he has the open three year work permit. Hope you get your WP.

So apparently they will process all the Priority ones before all the pending not priority? Even some of them are waiting since 2020-2021. What a joke!
