Hi everyone, I’m a refugee claimant in Canada(waiting for hearing). Can I travel to the USA for work? I have a meeting there that I must attend in person. My passport has a valid US visa, but my passport is with the IRB. Has anyone been in a similar situation? What options do I have?

No, you can not right now.

I had us visa which was valid until 2031. Ircc took my passport after claim. And later on I received an email from us consulate from back home saying that my us visa cancelled/revoked.

After I got refugee travel document I applied for us visa again and I got it for 10 years in Toronto. I travel there sometimes.

As previously noted not an option for a variety of reasons. If you leave Canada your asylum claim will be abandoned and you would have difficulty reentering. US likely canceled your visa or would refuse your entry due to the asylum claim.

You can’t leave Canada because your passport is seized and most likely your US visa cancelled , it’s not possible

No. Its a global institute and hence they only allow passport to appear for exam

There is still likely a way to get the passport back even if temporarily. Contact CBSA.

I am wondering how am I able to travel to the US now with a RTD. Do I need to apply for a visa again? I do have attested copies of my passport with the valid visa.

You cannot request your passport. You may be able to request a copy of your passport.

Yes you need to apply for a new visa using your RTD.

I have read in other threads that once you apply for your new US visa you should get in touch with the US embassy you applied to, and there is a possibility that they 'expedite' the processing of your visa application and maybe even without an in person interview.

Visas can be cancelled electronically without notifying you so would not count on the visa still being valid.
