Hi everyone,

I submitted my interest to sponsor my mother under the Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Program back in October 2020. My father passed away many years ago, so my application only includes my mother.

Despite multiple draws since 2020, I haven’t received an invitation to apply, and I’m starting to wonder if anyone in a similar situation (with only one parent listed) has been selected.

If you’ve applied with a single parent — or know someone who has — and received an invitation to apply, could you please share your experience? It would help me understand whether single-parent applications are being selected in the pool.

Thank you.
Mine only includes my mother as my father passed away as well way before 2020. We got the invite this year. I already lost hope a while back to be honest since this is a lottery system but we got the good news this year. I'm hoping that yours will get picked next year if you didn't receive the invite this year.

I received an email for the 2025 Parents and Grandparents Program on July 29, 2025. I will be filling out all the application forms on behalf of my parents, but I will not declare myself as their representative to save time. Instead, I plan to complete the forms as if my father, the principal applicant, is filling them out. My question is about Form IMM 1344 (Application to Sponsor, Sponsorship Agreement and Undertaking): Can I confirm that I only need to enter my name as the sponsor, matching the name of my father, and that a handwritten signature is not required?

I got the invite for PGP 2025 and wanted to know the procedure of sponsoring my parents and my grandparent (father's parent). I understand that primary applicant will be one of my parent or grandparent. However, can I include all 3 in the same application or I need to separate for all 3 or probably my mother and father in one and another for my grandparent. TIA
hii did u include all 3 names in ita form?

Can my parents apply for Seniors Financial Assistance program of alberta. Whether we are breaching the IRCC policy?
You need to doubt check to make sure it's not considered social assistance/welfare. If it's considered as welfare, they can still apply for it but YOU need to pay them back.

When writing the CV/Resume, if my parent does not remember the company's name (I doubt the company still exist as its a local company. Also she does not have proof like an offer letter), what would be the best approach?

Will IRCC ask for any proof of that? Like education certificate? Or pay stub or something?

Based on my brief look cash benefit likely not because it is essentially a welfare payment to supplement income but optical and dental and property tax relief if they own a home likely yes. Sponsoring parents to Canada comes with a large financial responsibility and may not be feasible for many families and why LICO being so low sets up many families for financial issues. You should verify with the province. Would get it in writing and clarify that you sponsored your parents through PGP immigration program and when they were sponsored. Many provincial workers will be unfamiliar with PGP (and requirements to sponsor) and immigration policies in general. Having an answer in writing will protect yourself if Alberta gives your parents funds and then wants to claw them back.

Please help - question about marriage certificate. I am only sponsoring my mom, my dad wants to stay at the home country. They are not divorced. Do i still need to include their marriage certificate? Thank you!

Yes, but he must be included in the application as non accompanying, take the medical and you show funds for him too. So yes, you need marriage certificate. Not wanting to come is not a reason to not be included. In fact there is no reason so tell him he is being sponsored.
