Hello Everyone,

I am planning to renew my passport. Should I renew it in India or over here. I am permanent resident. I head crazy stories abt BLS way they are processing all bad. I thinking to renew in India. As I am travelling from Dec 28 to Feb 28. My passport is expiring in March 2026. Let me know what do you think? It will be great help if anyone can share their experiences. Thank you .
Hi! I recently went through the passport renewal process via BLS, and I’m happy to share that it was a smooth and positive experience. I applied at the BLS Mississauga on July 18, and the process was quite organized. The staff was helpful, and the application went through without any issues.

As of now, my application status shows that the passport has been printed, so things are moving quickly. Based on my experience, I’d say renewing it here is definitely a convenient option, especially since you're a PR and planning to travle by end of this year. You have plenty of time if you start the process soon.

A question I missed self attestation of some docs when I asked bls person they said when you submit in person it doesn’t matter is that right?
I applied in person at the BLS Mississauga office and did not self attest my documents either. They accepted everything without any issues.

The status was pending for a long time and I reached out to Indian Consulate. They were able to help track status and mentioned that the passport has been printed and sent to BLS.

Did a police verification happen or no?

Hi, I applied for a normal passport renewal with Premium lounge service at BLS - Brampton office on 2nd August. I am a Permanent Resident here, The status on the portal is still showing "Processing at Consulate General." Has anyone else applied recently? What will be the next step, and when will the police verification be done at the my New Delhi, Indian address? Please advice. Thank you in advance.

Hello Senior Members,

I submitted my Indian passport renewal application on July 18, 2025 at BLS Edmonton via walk-in (Premium Lounge Service). It has now been over 2.5 weeks, and the status on the portal still shows as "Application under review at the Indian Embassy."

I contacted the local police station in India, and they confirmed that no request for police verification has been received yet. I also attempted to check the backend status using developer tools, but apart from a vague message like "granting initiated," there was no clear update.

My application includes an address change within India and addition of spouse details, will it be contributing to the delay?

Could someone please advise if this delay is within the normal processing timeline?
How much longer should I wait before escalating?
Who should I contact for more clarity, and are there any direct contact details available for applicants under the Vancouver jurisdiction?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Please read my reply here about the Edmonton office and the OCI application.
I have no idea what Edmonton is up to:
