I had nearly the same update - got an update around July 24th that they have received a payment from me. Around July 31st I was sent a letter to pay my biometrics fee. Which I am pretty confident I did. I paid it on the 1st. (Have applied through a rep) Now just waiting for further updates.

Application date July 16 2024 and last update was May 16 2025.

Just called IRCC and the agent said security has not yet been started and background is in progress!!!
The wait is just getting longer and longer lol

You need eta, electronic travel authorization, to travel and as long as you have a valid status and not travelling for longer periods, you can go wherever.

"it's a common misconception that the person being sponsored cannot leave Canada while the application is pending.However, returning to Canada requires compliance with eligibility rules and proper documentation, including a valid passport and any necessary visas or electronic travel authorizations"

Sorry I know it's been two months lol.

My husband has a US passport and SOWP, does he still need eTA. Only travelling for 10 days and he just recieved his P1.
