H&C does not give you any implied immigration status, nor it can prevent you from deportation
You are eligible for work permit after you get Approval In Principle, but it takes about 20-24 months right now to get to that stage, so you are responsible for ensuring you maintain your status through other means (visitor record, getting accepted into a program and applying for another study permit etc.)
