Hi all,

I applied for a visitor visa on June 4th to attend my cousin's wedding on August 9th. I have not got a decision yet. What if the decision gets delayed and the wedding date passed? Can I still wait and expect a positive reply? Or can I send a webform stating that the wedding date has passed but I would still like to visit them? Or just withdraw the application? Has anyone faced a similar situation? Please suggest.

IRCC will still process if past date of when you planned to come. IRCC really doesn't care that you had a wedding. You can withdraw or send a webform if you want.

They will still process but IRCC has been more strict about issuing TRVs to attend an event if the event has already happened for things like conferences, weddings, etc. Extended family is much more likely to attend a wedding versus still wanting/needing to travel to see the couple after the wedding.

We'll, it's not just about seeing the couple. My uncle's family and aunt's family have settled there for over 40 yrs. They stay with us when they visit India. We are pretty close. But I've never had the chance to visit Canada. I thought this would be an opportunity.

So you should have indicated you want to visit your uncle and aunt’s family not attend the wedding if that was the case not to attend the wedding of their child.

Ofcourse I want to attend the wedding. That was the primary purpose. But even if I miss the wedding I'd like to go visit them. I just wanted to get some useful insights about what can be done to make that happen. Not exactly interested in what should have been done though what you is is not what should have been done. So let's leave it at that

So then wait for response on application.
