Hi All,

I was applying for a visitor visa for my mother. Just wanted to know which option to select from why you need a visa, it seems that for parents or grandparents its shows only the super visa option. I am applying on her behalf. Below is the question and options for applying visa options;

Why do you need a visa? (required)
To be with a loved one who is critically ill or dying
To provide care for a loved one who needs medical support
To attend a funeral or end-of-life ceremony
To join a vessel as a marine crew member
To take up a diplomatic posting in Canada
To travel as an accompanying immediate family member of a diplomat arriving on a posting, and who will also be accredited in Canada
To handle the affairs of a victim of Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752
To visit Canada as a tourist
To visit my spouse, common-law partner, dependent child, parent, step-parent, guardian or tutor who is a Canadian citizen, person registered under Canada's Indian Act or permanent resident of Canada
To visit my spouse, common-law partner, dependent child, parent, step-parent, guardian or tutor who is in Canada temporarily, such as an international student or temporary worker
To visit my grandparent, grandchild, sibling, half-sibling, step-sibling or non-dependent child who is a Canadian citizen, person registered under Canada's Indian Act or permanent resident of Canada
To visit other family who are not listed above or friends for less than 6 months
To visit my children or grandchildren for more than 6 months (super visa)
For business reasons, like a meeting, conference, event, or training For a medical procedure (scheduled) or treatment
To study without a permit for less than 6 months
To work without a permit
Not sure

Also, how to make my case strong since i have been rejected once for not having strong ties to home country. Thank you all. Really appreciate it.

So she is applying and has been refused before, and you are her representative? Why is she coming to Canada and what is your status?

Strong ties for her are - children under 22, spouse, job letter with approved leave, income property, business with registration and client contracts.

Yes, i am applying on her behalf. I have a PR. She is coming to visit and spend timer over here with me.

She is retired so no job, used to work as a teacher. Has 3 other children and grandchildren back home.

Also, she is widow, so no spouse.

How long is planned visit? It should be a length that she is just coming to visit (a few weeks). So what are her ties to return? Do children live with her? Does she care for anyone full-time? She needs to declare the past refusal.

Ok, thanks. I will be taking care of all her expenses over here. Do i submit a letter of financial support?

Her visit will be for a couple of months. She lives with my big brother and his family. Past refusal I will declare.

That is a long visit and shows no ties to return, and too long if she has none of her own funds. Your brother is not a tie to return. Keep visit to a couple of weeks. You submit a letter of invitation with her bank accounts and yours. IRCC doesn’t need to consider your funds. A super visa may be a better idea If you want her to stay longer and she doesn’t have her own funds.

Thank you for your reply. What do i need for a super visa? How will i make her case strong?

You need to meet LICO with your NOA based on the number of people in your family. Mom needs to pass a medical and purchase a year of health insurance.
I meet the LICO requirement. Health insurance i will purchase. What about the Invitation letter and financial support letter. Can you share a template? How do i make my case strong?

You need to show your NOA to show financial support. Don’t have a template. Your letter is to invite her to come to Canada. She shows whatever ties she has to return.

Hi, I filled out the form for the visitor visa but there is no option to submit more documents. The only documents that it requires is National Identity document, passport, Funds, use of a representative, Consent personal information, Employment letter and additional documents. I have prepared letter of invitation, letter of financial support, Family certificate, NOA, property documents, etc but where to attach them because you can only attach one file.

you can combine all files into one file, and put them in additional documents
if you want to have the invitation letter option, select this : To visit other family who are not listed above or friends for less than 6 months

I applied for the visa. I attached Invitation letter, Letter of Financial Support, Property Documents and rental agreement according to which my mother gets a month rental income. The response was in 10 Days with a visa refusal.

I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as required by paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR (https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-2002-227/section-179.html). I am refusing your application because you have not established that you will leave Canada, based on the following factors:
• You do not have significant family ties outside Canada.
• The purpose of your visit to Canada is not consistent with a temporary stay given the details you have provided in your application.

What do i do?
