Not sure about Toronto, I landed in Vancouver, but I'm assuming it's a similar setup. > You should have different queues. > She won't be able to accompany you, and depending on the number of immigrants landing on that day she might have a long wait. > The officer will ask if you are coming by...

For me I just gave a job offer and it's pretty much done. I told them I'm new to Canada, and they didn't even ask for references. I'm not sure if just specific to my landlord or it's because purpose built rentals are suppose to operate that way.

Depends on the rental unit, some only need a job offer letter. I got mine with no credit history, but I'm on a purpose built rental unit.

SIN is a must, the PR card is dependent on IRCC, you must have a Canadian address on where they can ship the PR card. Other things that might interest you: getting a health card, and porting your driver's license . 1. I never did a soft landing, I landed here and that's it so can't comment on...

My guess is yes, otherwise once you submit your passport to them, they might return your passport to the wrong address

Yes, which is probably the reason everyone else is also complaining about affordability. If the passing is say 70, it doesn't matter if you score 15 or 10, they're all way below your expectations, and you would most likely perceive them at a much lower overall "score".

My guess it's because USNews give equal weight in its scorecard when ranking countries, whereas most people in a community look at the variable most important, or most visible to them. If you look at Canada's scorecard: https://www.usnews.com/news/best-countries/canada , you can see it scores...

I agree that it'll break US unity, whatever's left of it, BUT I don't think the US won't recover from it; after all they did recover from the Civil War. Hopefully we'll see a Haley 2024.

I'm rooting for Haley though, fingers crossed she'd get the nomination. On the last part, it depends on what happens next, if Pierre wins in Canada, it'll be quite interesting where we'd be going forward. Likely be trying my luck though in the US though, then if there are too many bullets flying...

For sure, but I'm confident that I'm not going to face a renoviction, at least not yet, as I said the unit is still relatively new (<2 yrs old). If the unit had been 7 years old or more, I would have been preparing to adjust my budget based on current rental rates.

Oh, I say no to renting... Not that they have bad income, for sure you're going to make money from it, it's just that I don't have the necessary time, patience and effort to deal with managing the rental unit especially if I'm residing from a different country. I have heard horror stories from...

Good Luck, the last part is also a reason why I'm hesitant to buy hard-to-liquidate assets. So far all is well, they do follow rent increase rates from the BC government, so nothing too unpredictable. I wanted to move after a year once I get a much better idea of how things work in Canada, but...

Possibly yes, but liquidating property has more legwork than clicking "sell stocks" from an app. I have to study the whole set of pros and cons, all fees hidden or otherwise, before jumping into this, for example or if housing inflation rates drop to 4-5%, and I'm no longer meeting the expected...

Good point, I guess in some cases you could get better returns in flipping. Although I think it might still vary from case to case, for example my rent is below $2000, since I was able to land in Vancouver before the rental prices went insane. So taking up a mortgage would have significantly...
