    COPR and coronavirus

My status in the GC key has been updated to approved. I got emailed today by CIC, but the GC key shows it was approved on 8th. The PR card will be mailed to my nominated address; should arrive in 6 weeks.

Oh really!! Didn’t know that....... have to find out how to file taxes; I don’t even know when their tax time is!! lol Yes I'm back in Aus and pondering when to make the move. I heard you could also claim benefits like child care, while still living in Aus. But not sure.......

    COPR and coronavirus

Yea similar advice......I was told that they would stamp it only after we relocate permanently and when we have the items on the ship. Did you move permanently or soft landing? @Welluf2019, next big question for me is when to move! Finding it hard to leave Aus; the climate here is so good! I...

    COPR and coronavirus

Ah okay....cool. My status is "submitted". The CBSA officer at Toronto airport said it would take about 4months to get the PR card and to hold on to the CoPR copy till then. Didn’t know they were processed at Nova Scotia. You must be very lucky to get it so quick......

    COPR and coronavirus

Congrats Titanium! Did you do a soft landing? Officer at the customs told me to show the goods to follow when I move permanently and when I have a shipping manifest from the shipping company. Interested to know if you got a different advice.

    COPR and coronavirus

Hey Welluf, Congrats!! That was very quick! Even less than the 180 days recommended by the CIC website. Vancouver airport maybe is way better and faster. What did your GC key account show before the update? Mine shows 'submitted' - "Your application is in progress. We will send you a message...

    COPR and coronavirus

There is no specific amount to carry; Just take a rough estimate of how much you will need for a few days of survival (e.g. food, transportation, accommodation, sim card etc). If you have a credit card that works overseas keep that as a back up. In terms of opening a bank account, you can have...

    COPR and coronavirus

Following my previous post here's my experience on getting the SIN. There are 3 ways to get the SIN - Online, In-person & Post. See link. I got my SIN in person at a Service Canada office in Toronto. There are multiple offices in downtown; But I believe only 2 out of 3 does the SIN. Use the...

    COPR and coronavirus

Hey Welluf, Thanks so much, we just got back to Aus; Spent a few days in US too. Yes agreed, the queues are massive there and found it very disorganised compared to Aus. We certainly are spoilt here. I just couldn't understand why they can't put more kiosks for customs declaration all along the...

    COPR and coronavirus

Yes thats correct. Make sure you have the Covid Vaccination Certificate. You will need to do the ArriveCan app 72 hours before departure. You have to upload the vacc cert in the app; Tip: an easy way to upload is to have a copy of the documents on your icloud or google drive and upload from...

    COPR and coronavirus

Hi All, I recently completed my soft-landing; finally after years of struggle I am so delighted to be a Canadian resident. Posting my recent landing experience here: I travelled from Melbourne, Australia to Toronto. The flight journey was quite hectic; we had stopovers in Sydney and San...

    COPR and coronavirus

I recently did a soft landing. The CBSA officer told me about 4 months. Weeks I think is a no chance; even the IRCC website says 101 days. Use this link for processing times: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/check-processing-times.html

    COPR and coronavirus

Hi, You will need to give an address in Canada for your PR card to be sent (e.g. a friend or family/someone you can trust). And I believe the PR card takes about 4+ months to be issued. If you plan to do a soft landing, you will need your friend/family to mail out the PR card. You can't enter...

    COPR and coronavirus

Ah right..... Qantas changed the schedule on my initial booking so I had only 1hr. I made a seperate domestic booking for an earlier flight, so I could have atleast 2.5hrs halt. I think the train seems to be faster than waiting for the shuttle (but will have to drag the baggage all along)...
