    A person I know received pr card in 2 weeks. He had his timeline very similar as mine. I paused my p1 at June 22th (because I'm traveling outside country this month) after that, he Recieved his P2, ecopr and finally the pr card yesterday.

The automatic secondary inspection is there to ensure people aren't exploiting refugee protection by returning to your home country vacationing or are using its passport to enter other countries.     With the PR card, you don't need a visa to enter Mexico, and the allowed stay for some nationalities is actually longer. It also increases your chances of getting a visa approved elsewhere. Without it, there's a higher risk of being denied boarding back to Canada—which happened to me in Mexico...
