    There is an online portal for this type of application. The only difference, however, is the shipping method. Apparently, there is no real gain in application processing speed compared to sending physical documents by mail/courier.

    ^I don't know how is the procedure if you are not in Canada. For inland applicants you need to check an "In Canada Declaration". In general, including a friend's address is not a good idea.

    No, you do not need to send the physical photos. There is a link to upload and clip the photo on the PR Portal. You will need to inform your address as well (and confirm that you are in Canada).
