Many thanks. And, btw, thanks for your various advisory replies when I was applying for PR. :)

    Change of Original Citizenship

Hi, I'm a UK citizen who has had Canadian PR for just over a year. I'll almost certainly apply for Canadian citizenship when the time comes, but I'm considering renouncing my UK citizenship in favour of Irish citizenship. This is because the UK has gone mad in my absence and I don't want to be...

Tourist Visa to Open Work Permit

A lovely idea, but not really likely to succeed. A large proportion of successful PR applicants are already within Canada, often with closed work permits, and applying for PR under the Canadian Experience class (although many of these are advised to apply under FSW so that CIC can massage the...

    Activating COPR - Flagpoling

We parked on the Canadian side and walked over the Rainbow Bridge (you'll need fifty cents each for the pedestrian turnstile). There was a lot of very slow moving traffic on the bridge so I'm glad we didn't drive across. On the bank statement question - I don't know about recent transactions...

    Activating COPR - Flagpoling

I've never been to the U.S. side of Niagara Falls, so couldn't say I'm afraid. I suppose that would be a matter of personal preference really.

    Activating COPR - Flagpoling

Hi, We showed a current bank statement via a mobile app, plus a letter confirming employment and salary - both were asked for by the agent as soon as we arrived, and then later by another in the more detailed landing process. Also, they were very clear that any bank statement or letter with a...

    Activating COPR - Flagpoling

Flagpoling and landing at the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara went very smoothly indeed. We asked the U.S. Agent about the administrative refusal and he said that it wouldn't be considered as a negative in any future visa application to the U.S. at all. We waited for an hour or so to be seen when we...

    Activating COPR - Flagpoling

Yes, and it contradicts PMM's advice above, and the COPR letter itself. I'll do the deed tomorrow and post here with the result.

    Activating COPR - Flagpoling

Many thanks everyone. Can I just ask why the CIC office would be better? I'm just outside the GTA but would like to take up a potential job offer asap.

    Activating COPR - Flagpoling

Hello there, I'm heading over the Rainbow Bridge tomorrow with my COPR and just need to check whether I need to have any sort of visa to cross into the U.S. to do so? Many thanks in advance for info.

WES delays due to increased volume of ECA applications?

My only delay in the ECA process with WES has been from my first university, who seemed to confuse itself with my document request and took nearly a month to send the required papers from the UK. WES was recommended to me by members of this forum and have been fine.

    Is he lying ????

He might not actually be lying - he might just be as clueless as everyone else. Taking a fee for being clueless is bad form though.

I got ITA under FSW (have questions!)

Same challenge here - self employed for three myself. Good luck with it all :)

I got ITA under FSW (have questions!)

Hi Tamsina - I'm getting my ducks in a row in terms of these letters so that there's no mad scramble to get them when / if I get an ITA (haven't submitted my EE profile yet - awaiting ECA report). Are you (or any other readers with ITA) asking previous employers / clients to send you the...
