Anyone with experience how we can get the US transit visa for my wife? Apparently, flying through the US with only a 2hr layover, she will need to pay $160 for it. Also, apparently, they will check to see if she has the visa with her before she boards. Has anyone come across this before?

Update.....the visa they give you to land depends on your medical! My wife's medical is expiring on the 28th of August and they have given us a visa expiry of 28th of August with NO EXCEPTION and NO EXTENSION, even if we redo the medical, we will have to resubmit everything! So the visa shows...

Make sure when you send your passport in, call back within 2 weeks. Mine was sent in on 4th of August and today (19th) I called in and they confirmed that it is available for pickup. All the best folks!

I don't think you should worry about where it is sent. To my experience and others, it seems like transferring to the VO in TZ has been positive. It's a new office which means that they have split the workload in half between Tanzania and Kenya. That's my opinion

Seriously you have to pay for a visa EVEN if it's a 2 hr layover? Does anyone know if going through Egypt for 18hr layover will require us (Canadians AND Ugandan) to pay for a visa?

VSF is the best and you can track it also. Costs about $80? Hopefully those of you who are waiting will also get yours very soon! All the best!
