I was in the same situation with an ON license and I wrote it in the same format shown: LAST NAME, FIRST NAME (last name first then first name and I separated them with a comma), everything went well with no issues.

I'm not sure they call every single guarantor, I don't think so, but in my case, they called my guarantor and approved my application the same day, I got my passport in the mail less than a week later. As far as your first question goes, it seems as if applications are moving a lot faster now...

Hello, just a quick update: I applied in Laval QC in-person on September 22nd with no proof of travel and got my passport delivered on November 1st. It looks like the processing times went significantly down and that the new 20 business day timeline on the website is accurate.

I applied for a passport in Laval (QC) in-person (regular Service Canada Center) on September 22nd with no travel date/proof, I called them a couple of days ago and they told me my file was approved on October 25th. Any idea what the timeline is between the approval and the shipping date ?

If you received the AOR right after, it most likely means the agent noticed he made a mistake and realized the file was complete after all. I think it's best to call them directly to confirm.

I submitted my passport application 14 business days ago in a regular Service Canada center and requested a status check online 2 days ago, I'll let you know when/if I hear anything.

Mine took about 2 hours in total but give yourself at least a 2-hour buffer so plan for 4 hours.

It is really unfortunate and unfair that some applicants have to spend thousands of dollars on lawyers' fees just to get their freaking citizenship while they have already fulfilled all the conditions and done their part.

I think this one is a bit risky, if you get a picky agent it might not fly. I'll just stick with a refundable first class plane ticket, nice and easy.
