Does anyone know why the Oath letter takes forever in Vancouver? 3-5 months is unacceptable when other locations takes a couple of days or weeks.

You may apply for a Student Visa, but you have to do it outside of Canada, you cannot apply for a Student Visa within Canada, only for an extension if you currently hold a Student Visa.

@ Perrinsa: I'd suggest you to apply for your SIN card, cuz in order to work and get paid for it, you need to provide a SIN number for tax purposes along with your Work Permit, otherwise, in the long run you and/or your employer can get in trouble with the CRA for not declaring taxable income...
