    CIC changes their rules regularly... Some are lucky, some are unlucky.. One of my friend applied in June 20, 2010 and the new rule got effective from June 26. He had to wait for 3 years for his visa but those who applied on 27th reached Canada in an year... :)

    You can follow up with CIC again.. I believe you have to appear for IELTS again since you need to attach the original certificate.     You are right, bus is provided only if it exceeds 1.6Km. Once you are in Canada, your habits will change and 600M becomes easily walkable :) Second option is to have car lifts during winter for a small child..

    One last thing which would be a good pointer to everyone preparing for landing - DO NOT BRING FOOD - If there is something specific for people travelling with kids i.e. milk etc. make sure you declare it.
