    Separating from husband before citizenship

Keep any text messages or emails where he has specifically threatened to file false claims against you. Save screenshots and print hard copies of anything you think might be useful in proving your innocence. Hopefully you'll never be in the situation where you need to use them.

    Nexus

Take your passport too. But yeah, you don't need to register your vehicle.

Nexus Card updating after becoming a citizen - new card?

Did you get to the main desks with the uniformed US CBP officer? Or have you only been dealing with the "gatekeeper" at the front first point of contact? It sounds like you have a very similar situation I had, where the first guy did eventually update my account but he didn't do it entirely...

    Arranging documents

I put my photos in a smaller envelope just so they wouldn't be missed, and everything else was just stacked in order with no clips or bindings in the main envelope. It's not like it's going to fall out of the envelope or change order on the way there...

Can I cancel my husband Permanent Residency Card?

Ummmm... where does your son want to be? Does he actually want to move to Canada with you or does he want to stay back in your home country with his Dad? Is your ex-husband aware of your plan to relocate your son to Canada and does he approve? Go see a family lawyer. Preferably one who is...

    January 2018 - Citizenship Applications

Not true - I used someone that did not have PR as one of my references. They did have a Canadian work permit but that doesn't even matter either. Nowhere in the reference requirements is any mention of them needing any ties to Canada whatsoever.

    January 2018 - Citizenship Applications

Only the guarantor has to be a Canadian citizen (and they have to already have a passport of their own). I used one non-Canadian as a reference, and my guarantor had only been a Canadian citizen for 3 months at the time I applied. No problems at all. Important thing is that you legitimately...

    January 2018 - Citizenship Applications

Nope, you're not. Citizenship applications are tracked through ECAS (https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/introduction.do?app=ecas). Note that you won't see anything show up there until a few days after you have received your Acknowledgment of Receipt (AOR) email.

Lost COPR- CIC asking for police report for oath ceremony

I have no idea why they're still telling people to bring the COPR to the oath ceremony. You don't need it. I tried to give them mine and they just said that I won't need it until I reach retirement age.

    Replacement of Citizenship Certificate!!!!!!!!

Ah right I see where you were going with that now. :)

    Replacement of Citizenship Certificate!!!!!!!!

A passport isn't included as one of the items acceptable as proof of Canadian citizenship. It's generally good enough in most circumstances, but it's not official proof. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-citizenship/proof-citizenship/documents.html

    IRCC survey request after citizenship

The question about reasonable processing time was poorly worded. I could select an option for less than 90 days, or another option for 90-365 days. I think 90 days is pretty quick and not really a reasonable expectation, but a full year is too long. There was no way of saying that though, given...

Nexus Card updating after becoming a citizen - new card?

I never asked that explicitly but they did say that the system saw me as a Canadian first. So I'm not 100% sure but I strongly suspect that is what the little flag means. I have used my new card (at the airport) since that last post too, and there were zero issues at the border.

    January 2018 - Citizenship Applications

My oath was on a Saturday morning, ECAS changed to "Complete" on Sunday, and I was at the passport office at 8:30am PST on the Monday morning had no issues at all. Technically, I didn't even wait 2 business minutes! From my anecdotal experience and from a few others I've seen say similar...

Nexus Card updating after becoming a citizen - new card?

Last update... received my new Nexus card in the mail today, which arrived WAY quicker than I thought it would. It now says that I am Canadian on the card. :D Sooo, that's it then. I'm done. Everything is in order. Journey complete!
