I believe it is just the reliability check and it is not for RCMP or Defense. I'm from Australia with no criminal history and received PR this year with no issues throughout application. Do you know if less then two months would be likely? Cheers

It's not about getting your application in before the medical expires, it's about entering the country as a perminent resident before it expires. I did my medical up front in june a month before submitting my application so I must enter Canada with my COPR by june (12 months after my medical)...
