    US outland applicants' thread :)

No problem. I submitted my app Nov. 30, so a little after yours. My bet is there's just some natural variance based on who gets your file. My wife and I probably will be in the U.S. for a few months after getting approved as well. Good luck with the job search. I think it's wise to wait until...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

I just looked at it. As Americans, it probably wouldn't affect my wife and I very much. As someone who cares about civil liberties, it seems pretty troubling. I'm amazed that either country is ok with giving up their sovereignty on this issue.

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Hi Everyone. My background check went to "In Progress" today. My application was submitted in late November. Thought some other folks who submitted around that time might like to know.

Wife has just gotten visa but still has school.... Advice?

That's not what he's asking. Yes, you (OP) should be good to go, as long as you "land" before the date listed.

Canadian Citizen sponsoring wife while living outside canada

My wife is a Canadian citizen. We live together in the U.S. and are doing the same thing. It's not a problem.

    Spousal application

If you lie, you'll have big-time problems. End of story.

Overstayed American scared to go back to the states.

Does Canada even know that you've overstayed? If not, I don't see what you're so afraid of. I mean, I'd get back to the U.S. as soon as you can, but if they don't know about it yet you're still ok.

    Proof of income proof question

It was my account and it showed upwards of 40,000 USD. I wouldn't worry too much about the exact amount. Like I said, they don't have any cut-off number. All you have to do is prove that you'll be supported when you get to Canada. That could mean staying with in-laws even.

    Proof of income proof question

I'm in a somewhat similar situation. My wife is sponsoring me, and she has a relatively low income. As stated previously, there is no income requirement, but it's a good idea to provide evidence of some kind that you won't have to go on social assistance. I did the same thing that you're talking...

Waiting for Marriage Certificate, Spousal Immigration Options?

Congratulations. Sounds like a really great time for you, minus the stress of this immigration stuff. I think you have a pretty solid understanding of the issues you're facing. I'm not enough of an expert to give you solid answers. But I'll give your post a bump so maybe someone else will check...

    Submitted application how long?

I got my acknowledge of receipt about 9 days after my app was submitted. Got sponsor approval 5 days after that. Anecdotally, it seems like they're moving very fast right now.

New requirements for proof of common law?

I'm not sure what their exact standards are, but I bet those things would be sufficient. Two separate phone bills with the same address still proves that you live together. Maybe just making a phone call to CIC and seeing what's acceptable will calm your nerves some. I just gotta believe that...

New requirements for proof of common law?

Well, if you live together, it shouldn't be very hard to get 2 of those things together as evidence.

Best way to put pictures as an evidence for relationship?

My app was put in 2 weeks ago, and this is almost exactly the amount of stuff we put into ours, along with copies of leases, a car title, a beneficiary statement. That stuff carries more weight, if you have it, than emails.
