I have been told that CIC does it on its own and only when you have similar name/date of birth to someone else, they will request you to send RCMP criminal record check.

Don't worry. In my case it took 3 weeks to have my timeline updated with medical received from the result was sent to them, but sometimes it could take longer than that. I think that if the clinic confirmed to you that they sent the result last Friday, you can be sure that they did so. Anyway...
