PR holder- border guards “warning” me (nicely(

I found this interesting- an immigration firm I consulted mentioned this: in my case, I am living in US with my Canadian citizen Wife and we have two young children together who are also Canadian citizens. Something like this: “There are several exceptions to the general rule. Under some...

PR holder- border guards “warning” me (nicely(

…good answer- that is likely what the border guards were discussing with me. Just checking on the context to see if I missed something - once I told them I knew about the RO, they said “oh, ok, you understand the time requirements…” (something like that)

PR holder- border guards “warning” me (nicely(

Agree, that’s what I thought. Here’s a question- what if in that 5 years, I miss the 730 day requirement? Is it that I have to re-apply? Or … what happens? I am trying to move in 2023, just wondering what happens if I miss the 730 total in the five years? And thanks!

PR holder- border guards “warning” me (nicely(

Hi- I’m a PR holder living in the US, I activated in Aug 2020. I have visited Canada for about 105 days total since activation. Due to many reasons (Covid, job, etc), I have not moved permanently to Canada from the US. The last two ground border crossings the Canadian border guards have sort...

SOFT LANDING - APPROVED COPR QUERY

Hi all- I landed! Via land at Regway crossing (Montana/Saskatchewan). No problem at all at the border. They cheerily processed my COPR. I am now a permanent resident of Canada! Currently in quarantine. On the way, RCMP stopped me about 200km inside Saskatchewan. He was upset to see us...

Totally agree- I for one like civic duty, respect for others, respect for the laws, and rule following. And yes, don’t try to wiggle or get around the rules regarding Covid! We are going by land next week, and thankfully have a solid documented Quarantine plan.

I think they are very serious about NOT leaving, except to seek medical care. https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/2019-novel-coronavirus-infection/latest-travel-health-advice.html "mandatory quarantine means you must: not leave your place of quarantine unless it's to seek...

SOFT LANDING - APPROVED COPR QUERY

Right- the “rule” is don’t go just to validate. Our trip is not to validate. We are going to visit regardless. That might be the difference. I am holding a valid COPR, and we will be starting our move preparations as well... we shall see how they view it. Really it will likely depend on the...

SOFT LANDING - APPROVED COPR QUERY

Good info. I think I've decided this course: We are entering Canada from the US for valid reasons. (Canadian citizen, my sponsor/spouse to visit aging family members). So we can go regardless, per the travel rules. We are following all the requirements (quarantine, etc, we all have...

SOFT LANDING - APPROVED COPR QUERY

Has anybody done a land crossing (from US) to validate the COPR? I am crossing by truck&RV trailer soon, and staying for 6 weeks. Will have family with me(sponsor, dependents, two dogs). We are visiting relatives, per requirements, we can cross and we will self isolate per requirements. We...

    1) Yes, "soft" may be relative. Correct, we have a quarantine plan. We are not doing a "u-turn" or anything like that. So we don't plan on returning before that time! But, we will need to go back to take care of US affairs. 2) GREAT info- I hadn't realized they had the PR Card in the...

I think you are reading it correct- #1- You have a valid COPR, you can go to Canada! (Yay) Date of 3/18 (before or after): Seems to only be related only to whether or not you are EXEMPT from travel restrictions. (such as mandatory self-isolation/quarantine). So, if you have a valid...
