Exporting/Importing Vehicle - US to Canada ONLY!

Thank you so much for your reply! That is very helpful and relieves some of my anxiety about the process. Cheers!

Exporting/Importing Vehicle - US to Canada ONLY!

Does anyone have any first-hand experience who can answer this? If you drive the car that you want to import from the US to Canada to the border, does US Customs or CBSA take your US plates away or will you be allowed to drive the vehicle into Canada and around while you are getting the RIV...

    Renounce and sponsor again.

I don't have an answer for you but I would also like to see the responses provided to you. I'm thinking that there shouldn't be a problem since it is your spouse that you would sponsor again. However, I think that there is always a risk that it wouldn't be approved. Maybe the circumstances...

    pr card renewal timeline

Did you ever get your card? Did it go to secondary review? The OP was back in July. I just saw this on the check timeframes page of CIC Check application processing times Find out why processing times information changed and see top questions about processing times in the Help Centre...

Living in Canada, working in US.

Ah, yes...nice! So, are you documenting days somehow for proving days in Canada for a Citizenship application? For citizenship purposes you must have 1095 days of physical presence in Canada. Accompanying a Canadian citizen spouse only works for RO, not for the physical presence requirement...

Living in Canada, working in US.

Interesting. I know partial days in Canada are considered days for RO purposes, but...since you were living in the US and commuting into Canada, what did you use to prove you were in Canada all of the 730 required days for RO, since you were not actually living in Canada?

Applying to Universities as permanent resident immigrant

It depends on the specific school and program requirements as to whether you will need to sit for the academic IELTS. Check with the school you plan to attend to see their requirements.

How long is the processing to Renounce PR from outside Canada ?

I'm sure you could reapply. What would be interesting to know, and what I'm sure you really mean by your question, is how much does it effect a new PR application for a person who previously renounced their PR (probably for not meeting the RO). That is a good question. I'm sure, just like in...

    SIN number short landing

If you do a short landing and get your PR card mailed to a friends so you can have it sent to you by them later, then sure, you could apply for your SIN later using your PR card. However, I agree with Buletruck, it would be much easier to get it during your short landing. When my family and I...

Residency Obligation for PR - Some family - Re-sponsor?

Fair enough. But, it's still better than no coverage like here in the US. It helps kids that do get sick, and kids that have chronic illness. Also, it helps college kids get the medicines they need if they are sick while they are studying for their career, etc.

Residency Obligation for PR - Some family - Re-sponsor?

2.5 years = 912.5 or 913 days that you would be absent from Canada. So, as for yourself, if you do a quick landing and then return in 2.5 years and stay, you will be OK. However, keep in mind that you must be in Canada for at least 730 days within the 5-year period starting with your landing...

Residency Obligation for PR - Some family - Re-sponsor?

Sure, there's still room for improvement. Which they are working on: As of Jan 1, 2018 in the province of Ontario, prescription medications will be free for people from birth until age 25. I can only imagine this will later expand to cover others. At least things are working towards...

Residency Obligation for PR - Some family - Re-sponsor?

We have walk in clinics, but can you afford them? In the US, we don't have single-payer healthcare like in Canada. You can go see a doctor whenever you want, but if you don't have healthcare it is horribly expensive. In the US we have some of the highest healthcare costs with outcomes that...

Residency Obligation for PR - Some family - Re-sponsor?

Yes, it would, but I know it isn't going to happen. He'll have to take his chances on not having everything transfer. My wife took classes in Canada years ago and the classes transferred to the US. I'm hoping that if he goes to our branch of the University of Texas that most will transfer...

Residency Obligation for PR - Some family - Re-sponsor?

Actually, now I see that in the imm5445 instructions says, If you are under the age of 18 A clear and legible photocopy of one (1) of these: your birth certificate (showing your name, date of birth, place of birth and the names of your parents or adoptive parents); if you have a legal...
