It's good that they did not put you to jail. I had a friend who tried to come to Canada under a business visa, but actually was going to visit his girlfriend and he spent a month in immigration detention facility. You just need to apply for a new visitor visa, if you still want to visit.

My husband received a Landing Interview Letter today for August 17 in Etobicoke. The application was received by CPC on October 16, 2017. Does anyone know do they allow to keep visa or they annul it? My husband is supposed to go to USA on August 27.

My husband received AIP yesterday, application from October 16, 2017. Now waiting for decision to be made and for an interview appointment.
