Yes this is confirmed by numerous people - there is no reason for BLS or Indian embassy to hold on to your Canadian passport. I plan to submit my surrender application later this month at BLS in Brampton.

Original Canadian passport is not needed - only copy is sufficient.

I am filling it for my child too to apply for citizenship so if you select primary ID as foreign passport then you can use PR card as secondary ID as per the online form. I am going to do this and submit.

I am also applying for my child separately. Regarding the IDs - I chose the primary ID as foreign passport - for the secondary I chose the PR card which was based on the options presented. Hopefully those 2 IDs will be considered and there won’t be any rejects or need to resubmit.

Applied for passport in person at Hamilton Queenston Rd office on Jul 17. Received passport on Jul 25. Wife had also applied together and she received hers on Jul 27. Both old versions. Regular processing - mail delivery via Canada post.

I recently got my citizenship and am planning to apply online for my daughter who is a US citizen. Is it ok to upload her expired PR card as 1 ID? Don’t see it mentioned in the instructions about the ID being valid - has anyone done it?

They have many different emails - and frankly it’s useless emailing them for this - they just won’t even bother to respond. The auto acknowledgement will say so that if the email is not related to already scheduled oath or oath forms it will be deleted. You are better off sending a webform...
