My Last Night in Limbo Land!

Finally, after what has seemed like forever, I am delighted to say I have my landing interview scheduled for tomorrow morning at 9.30am. I initially started my inland spousal application (I am British my husband is Canadian) in September 2007, although for one reason and another the application...

Waiting on Sponsor App - Visitor Status Extension Needed?

Thank you so much for this, it is very useful and informative. My file remains in Vegreville, and has done throughout so I would assume the lawyer must have filed an application for an extension when I first applied for PR as my visitor status would have expired in March 2008 and I didn't...

Waiting on Sponsor App - Visitor Status Extension Needed?

No worries and thanks for the good wishes. I am from a visa exempt country, I was told that I did not need to apply for a visitor extension provided my application was in process before the stamp on my passport expired - i.e. 6 months. At no stage was I told I needed to apply for an extension...

Waiting on Sponsor App - Visitor Status Extension Needed?

Where did you get your information? If you have an inland application in process you HAVE to stay in Canada during initial processing. I have an OWP you cannot get an OWP until first stage approval. I believe you can apply at the same time as making your application however it is not...

Waiting on Sponsor App - Visitor Status Extension Needed?

I have made an inland application February 2008. I used a lawyer for the process. The lawyer informed me that once you have an application and it has been acknowledged by CIC you have implied status whilst awaiting processing. My visitor stamp was in my passport from August 2007, I did not have...

where/how to begin the immigration process

No you don't have to leave, after the first six months you can apply for a visitor extension.

where/how to begin the immigration process

At this stage I don't think you would have enough evidence to prove a relationship. You could not really put down as common law at the moment because you need to provide evidence like joint bank statements etc. and the same appears to be the case for conjugal - you might find this useful...

Waiting on Sponsor App - Visitor Status Extension Needed?

What type of application have you made? If you have made an inland spousal application, once CIC have acknowledged receipt you no longer need visitor extensions whilst you are awaiting processing. Unfortunately in terms of the open work permit it is a waiting game for first stage approval...

    Criminal Record Check

That's correct, as long as you maintain legal status in Canada, they will not ask you to leave. Being from the UK helps as you don't need a Visa as such, but you will have to apply for a visitor extension once the stamp in your passport expires. The link you have there is a great place to start...

where/how to begin the immigration process

Hi Egelorie Wow your situation is exactly the same as mine was when I first came to Canada in 2007, also having met my partner (now husband) on line. I went for advice from an immigration lawyer, she did not suggest we should get married, however she subtly suggested that whilst she was not...

sponsering my children with out thier mother

Hi Omar, am I correct in thinking that you are Canadian, but no longer currently live in Canada, but are wishing to move back and bring your children back to Canada with you? They are not Canadian citizens I assume?
