Thanks for the inputs! We have decided to just use the old passport and just get the new passport after coming back since we are only planning on doing a soft landing. We also checked with the embassy and they said it’s ok as long as the current passport is still valid for travelling.

For my case I uploaded both and explained under LOE. Post AOR, they did send an ADR for Travel Info as I have quite a few travels in the past 10 years. I think on the safe side it's better to just upload both if both of your passports are with you.
