Nexus Card with less than a year of PR but more than 3 as a resident

Hi there, My wife applied for a Nexus card but unfortunately was denied. I was under the impression that the 3 year residency rule included residency before PR. At least that's what the customs officer said when she became a PR. Does the 3 year residency rule include time as resident before...

    PR application canceled

I'm going crazy right now. My wife received an email April 22 requesting a new Schedule A and IMM5406. Unfortunately this email when to her junk mail and she never saw it. We never received a hard copy in the mail. She just got a new email today saying they're canceling her application because...

Leaving and re-entering Canada on an Open Work Permit

Hi there, so, everything seemed to go well.. Almost too well. We drove back into Canada from America. The border guard basically just asked us a few questions, looked at my wife work permit and let us through. No stamp or anything. I imagine he scanned both of our passports though. We didn't...

Leaving and re-entering Canada on an Open Work Permit

Thank you Scylla. I guess we've decided to risk it, but the worst outcome is quite scary.

Leaving and re-entering Canada on an Open Work Permit

Looking through her passport, she doesn't have any kind of visa in there. Just a stamp. So, from what I can gather because she is from an exempt country (Japan), she was never required to get a visa. Her open work permit expires in 2017.

Leaving and re-entering Canada on an Open Work Permit

Sorry if this comes up so many times. I'm super paranoid my wife won't be able to come back into Canada. The difference between a work permit and a visa can be quite confusing. My wife and I are planning to visit the US for Christmas. We will be crossing a land border and then flying in the...

Where do I send my work permit reciept

Hi there, In February, my wife and i sent off her inland PR application along with her work permit application (the pilot program). There has since been a new fee added ($100). We've paid it online. Where do we send this receipt to? Can we email it? Thanks

Have people started getting their work permits yet?

As of Dec 22, 2014 sponsored PR applicants can apply for a work permit before the principle decision gets made. People should be getting their work permits with in 4 months. Are people getting theirs already? Is there a thread talking about these applications...

Inland Spousal sponsorship - which work permit form do we use?

Just filling out imm5710. My wife is currently on an iec visa, which she apparently can not extend. We're having trouble choosing which one of these to fill out: 3 I am applying for one or more of the following: 1. A work permit with the same employer 2. An initial work permit or a work...

Inland Spousal sponsorship - which work permit form do we use?

Thanks, we realize this. For us the choice is that she can work the whole time through the 2 years (inland) or she can work until July and then probably wait 7-8 months for the PR (outland). A lot of people really are pushing for outland on this forum and while we realize it has many benefits...

Inland Spousal sponsorship - which work permit form do we use?

Hi there, My wife is currently on a working holiday (iec) visa. We are about to submit her PR application. According to this she can apply for a work permit with her PR application: cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/updates/2014/2014-12-22.asp The article links to a specific form to use if...

Inland PR application for Japanese wife + work permit

I think our issue is that if we apply outland it will be more difficult for her to get a work visa in the mean time. Is this correct?

Inland PR application for Japanese wife + work permit

Just wanna bump this up again, hoping someone one who knows will see it. A secondary question. Should we submit the work permit application with the pr application? I fear that the envelope will sit unopened until they get to it.
