All is good. We sent the passport from El Salvador to Mexico on April 7. And it just came back today! Yippee!! Exactly one month. So don't worry yet. It will get to you soon I think. Perhaps semana Santa slowed things Down. :)

I think they are looking for anything that would link the person to illegal activity. So, not just criminal records, which is different than the backgournd check. But things like belonging to organizations that are a risk (terrorism, organised crime, etc); or past involvement in war crimes...
