I just moved to Toronto from the USA. We are paying about $1,000 per month for full time daycare for our 3 year old. We checked several places and that's about the average for a private daycare, there may be some subsidized options.

I just did the application for certificate of Cdn citizenship for my 2 kids. I included a request to expedite because we were moving back to Canada. At first it seemed that didn't really make a difference, but then out of the blue, the consulate called to verify we hadn't moved yet because...

I just did this for my kids. I took copies of their birth cert, passports, and social security cards and also copies of my own proof of ID and took them to a notary, who stamped them and wrote that they were true copies of the original. Sent it to the consulate for my area (Boston) and also...

We just rented a home in Toronto using printouts of our US credit reports (got them at myfico.com) and also a letter from my employer confirming my employment and income levels. No problems at all, they considered us very creditworthy tenants.

I haven't done it yet but am using United Van Lines to move our belongings to Toronto for us in about 10 days. They said they will take our list and make arrangements for a customs agent to meet the truck and us somewhere reasonably close to where we're moving to (location not determined yet)...

Sent my application to sponsor my US husband to Mississauga, received by them on April 22. Have not heard anything yet.

Looks like the FBI has picked up the pace. They received my husband's fingerprints on April 7 and mailed the response on May 24. So about 6 weeks. They charged my credit card about a week before I got the letter in the mail.
