Have you tried the Globe and Mail's New Citizenship Calculator?

No. Essentially if you live near border such as Windsor, you can go to Detroit to work every day and spend no more than one night at a time in Detroit for 4 years and not be counted single day absence from Canada.

    Bill C-6: Senate stage

I said "Ping Pong between HoC and Senate now officially starts to play" the other day. Please re-visit my post before Christmas to see if it's true.

Ping Pong between HoC and Senate now officially starts to play.

    Bill C-6: Senate stage

Among all the HoC bills being returned from Senate in this government, only C-14, C-2, C-15 and C-29 were reviewed within days because they all had deadlines (C-14 had deadline from the supreme court, C-2 had deadline of tax year, C-15 and C-29 were budget bills to fund the government). C-4 has...

    Bill C-6: Senate stage

C-7 was backed by the supreme court which has to be delivered, same as C-14, the only difference is C-7 had no deadline like C-14. So they are both more important than election promises.

    Bill C-6: Senate stage

C-7 has been in House of Commons waiting for reviewing amendments since June 2016 (almost a year). C-14 had deadline from the supreme court and it's total different story and not comparable.

    Bill C-6: Senate stage

This is not just about Senators. It reflects the different values of this country from Europe, that is authoritarian rules, people obey, no Human Rights and Compassion. In UK a few years back, same thing happened, the previous government made a ridiculous citizenship act, but when new...

    Bill C-6: Senate stage

Also keep in mind, in Europe, there is a thing call Human Rights and Compassion and apply to anyone and all aspects of society. While in North America, in reality Human Rights is a privilege enjoyed by certain groups of people but not everyone. For example, there is an EU-wide rule, anyone stay...

    Bill C-6: Senate stage

You got it. Using Canadian language, in UK the time lived before PR (except students) can all be counted towards citizenship. That's why Canadian method to count residency is very misleading. Most people think Canada is the easiest country to immigrant and get citizenship. That's just Canada's...

    Bill C-6: Senate stage

Bear in mind, when UK says 5 years, you are allowed to absent 450 days within that 5 years. So actual physical residency requirement is actually 3.75/5, even less than 4/6. Actually all other countries such as US, AU, NZ and all EU countries use the same method. Canadian method is actually very...

    Bill C-6: Senate stage

She's absolutely right. I immigrated to UK and was very satisfied about the whole experience. Then I came to Canada, huge mistake and regretted. That's why I'm leaving. It's a very costly life lesson for me.

    Bill C-6: Senate stage

Actually they've been playing people's life. If same thing like C-24/C-6 happens in Europe, the government would be accused of violating human rights under ECHR Article 8: Right to respect for private and family life. Sadly, in Canada, human rights record is just a joke, even UN has criticized...

    Bill C-6: Senate stage

I actually feel very sad that my prediction is becoming real. I was also over-optimized over a year ago. But I simply gave up hope totally and became realistic. We were fooled too much by the false hope brought by this government. I knew the longer I keep that false hope and not cut my loss, the...

    Bill C-6: Senate stage

6 months ago I said the bill will be dead in the end and some people doubted my prediction. Today I still stand by my prediction. http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/breaking-news-bill-c6-finally-passed-in-hoc-now-reading-in-senate-t430607.0.html;msg5525758#msg5525758

    BIG MISTAKE EVER MADE

Take it easy, everyone makes silly mistakes sometimes. Specially all these questions about "Have you EVER ......" are very easy to be read as "Have you NEVER ......". So I understand why you checked YES instead of NO.
