It's called temporary because the permit expires. It has nothing to do with whether you intend to immigrate to permanently to live in Canada. Since it can be used as part of a permanent residency application, this shows that it is a valid immigration path, so that argument doesn't hold, sorry...

My Ecas just updated! I have been invited to take the oath of citizenship and should receive the letter soon (it was mailed Aug 19th)! Good luck to everyone else still waiting!

Two things I didn't like about C-24: 1) No time before permanent residency is counted towards citizenship - this is incredibly unfair, since when on a work permit or study visa you are integrating and becoming part of Canadian life. Canadian culture and values become part of you during any time...

Glad I'm not the only one! Yeah - I just hate not knowing anything. Why do CIC have to use that phrase "Decision Made" - why not approved or denied? I swear they just love torturing applicants to these things. I don't know either! I think it just means we'll get an approval or rejection...

My application was mailed to CIO on August 17th 2010. I got my Positive Eligibility Email from CIO on December 13th 2010. My ECAS changed to "Received by Visa Office" March 25th 2011. So thats when Buffalo officially got it in their office.

It came via Regular Mail... in fact it had to, since the form included has one of the photos I sent stuck to it. No email or enquiry, other than the threatening one I made at the end of November that seemed to get them moving on my file.
