    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2010

Just an update. I finally had my landing interview yesterday. All was very quick and easy, and they told me I would be receiving my PR card in 6-8 weeks. All in all, the whole process took 18 months. So glad everything is over!!

    INLANDERS!

So I finally had my landing interview yesterday. Everything was so quick and easy. They just asked me to verify all my information, then they told me that I would be receiving my PR card in 6-8 weeks. All in all, the entire process took 18 months. So glad its over!!!

    INLANDERS!

So it looks like my process is finally nearing the end. Received 2 letters last week, one from Vegreville saying my app is completed, and the other from the local office in Niagara Falls for an interview on May 12. They want me to bring the ROPR fee and 2 PR card photos, so it looks very...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2010

So this looks like its finally it for me. I got 2 letters in the mail last week for an interview at the local office in Niagara Falls on May 12. One was from Vegreville and one was from the local office, and they said to bring the ROPR fee, and 2 PR card photos. Whew, this will be a year and...

    INLANDERS!

That's how it was for all of us. It's frustrating, I know. Usually after about 2 -3 months after you think it was recieved, you will hopefully be able to log in and see that in fact it has been received and is in process (that was like the day of my life when that happened - it was like wow...

    INLANDERS!

Oh thanks! Sorry you didn't find out sooner. Guess I'm not all that good and letting people know, haha. Yes, I've definitely relaxed now that I can work and get health care. Those were the major hurdles. Now its just paperwork. Still says "In Process" on my app. Haven't received any mail...

    INLANDERS!

Hey, I'm in St Catharines, too!! Haven't met too many people on this forum from the Niagara Region - and from the States, too. I'm from Rochester, NY. As far as your question, I am assuming you also applied inland. For inland applications, there is a risk you take when leaving Canada...

    Inlanders: OHIP with Work Permit

If you have been only a visitor prior to AIP, then yes you will have to wait 3 months. I do not know about any other status.

Did anyone watch the documentary on Marriage Fraud last night on CBC news?

I know there's lots of talk about conditional visas and "trial periods" and whatnot. I see what everyone is getting at, but I'm not sure its the best solution. I mean, let's face it, the amount of time you spend married or even living together doesn't mean anything. I've heard of plenty of...

    INLANDERS!

Wow, I guess this really is proof that the 9 month timeline after AIP must be a max. Me and Vinceywife applied in Dec 2009 and we are still "In Process". Perhaps it has to do with the country you are from, and how long the background checks take there? I dunno. Anyway, congrats!!

    INLANDERS!

Sadly, no, you saw right. A few of us are trying to figure out if the second stage timeline is true for all applicants, or whether its just the absolute maximum time.

    INLANDERS!

    Yes that is correct

    INLANDERS!

I think the case is different if you are working or some such thing. But if you have only been a visitor for the duration of your time here, you have to wait 3 months. I'm living proof of this, as my OHIP kicks in Dec 10. I asked the lady, when I applied in September, why I had to wait 3...

    INLANDERS!

Relax. Its not the quantity of the stuff. Its the quality. I'll be honest with you. In addition to all the forms, we sent in about 10 clear pictures of our wedding, 5 pictures of our honeymoon, about 15-20 pictures during the course of our dating, and an audio CD of our wedding vows. We got...

    INLANDERS!

At the time I applied for PR, I did not know I could apply for a work permit. At that time, I applied instead to extend my visitor status. When I got the letters for AIP just recently, I sent in an app for the OWP, and they received it on Sept 21 as per Canada Post site. So I'm hoping that it...
