Loads and loads of money, cause here in Canada, nothing ain't cheap. For family of 3 to survive in Ottawa/Gatineau area, it is expected to make at least $80.000 annually and that won't guarantee you any nice toys yet. In your case you have to persuade the CBSA officer, that you don't need to go...

    PR card photo specifications

Go to Costco, they make PR, Canada and USA passport photos for $7 and has always worked for me!

    SIN number

Don’t quote me on this, but Atlantic provinces (Nova Scotia, Newfoundland. New Brunswick, PEI) SIN starts with 1, Quebec 2 or 3, Ontario 4 or 5, prairies (Manitoba, Saskabush and Alberta) with 6 and BC with 7. Will follow you, regardless if you move later to a different area.

    Still No PR Card

I sponsored my Mom here and She became PR on May 22 and received her PR card on November 21. So it took almost 6 months for her. Some folks get it fast, others wait much longer. Life will teach you to accept many facets of patience, all the best!

Tips for 2016 (Future) PGP Applicants

So my mom finally received her first PR card. There was no issues whatsoever, only thing I can think of, perhaps the delay was caused due to the fact that she got married (first time in her life) to a Canadian Citizen, just 2 days after becoming PR. So the time it took to process the initial...

You could also write TEF French test and add as secondary language. Results don’t have to be excellent as a Secondary.

Tips for 2016 (Future) PGP Applicants

Hi ya’all. Can anyone please tell me how long does it realistically take to receive a first PR card after landing. It has been 73 days now for my Mom. Curiosity has me going.

Can I learn to drive in Canada as a Visitor?

Yeah, could be that “5 eyes” countries are accepted (UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand) in some provinces. Sorry for misleading then.

Can I learn to drive in Canada as a Visitor?

UK licence is not exchangeable in US or Canada. They only accept each others licences. I had my Estonian licence with all categories, as I drove everything in all over continental Europe, Cruiser Buses, Semis with Tents, Containers, Hardwalls, Opendecks, Oversize and also Motorcycles, etc. I had...

Tips for 2016 (Future) PGP Applicants

Yeah Ontario and Quebec are like countries in their own right! Here in Prairies you can just show up any time and land at POE’s. If you call IRCC, call 7:57 in the morning, having more chances of success, appointments can take weeks to months to get to, POE is still better in my opinion.

It is 1 year from medicals or expiry date of passport, which cannot be less than 6 months from date of issuance. Whichever of those 2 comes first.

Former Old Country ceases to exist

Just a hypotethical question. A person immigrates to Canada as a Permanent Resident from a tropical island (state). 2 years later the state ceases to exist, as it is invaded by an agressor. What happens to that Permanent Resident, as he/she is now stateless, almost like abstract person?

Tips for 2016 (Future) PGP Applicants

When my Mom’s process was still active, they also asked her history since age 18 and she is 57 lol. It had to be also supported by a legal translation, Foreign Affairs legalization stamp and Canadian Embassy’s Apostille Stamp of WorkBook. PCC is always only current and will show if there has...

Tips for 2016 (Future) PGP Applicants

Calm down please and go over the LICO tables for each year. Do make sure that amounts are equal or surpassed, cause if you are short even 1 cent, means no good. Also is it just you sponsoring or your spouse too? Did you receive Employment Insurance during any of these periods? I assume it is...
