Thanks, dpenabill. Could not have been explained better. There is quarantine in Vermont, but only for those who comes to stay there. It does not apply to transit passengers.

    Permanent Residency Obligations

I recently came back to Canada via the USA from my country. I did not find a requirement to stay in the USA for 14 days before coming to Canada on either government's website. I arrived to New York from my country on Saturday. On Sunday morning I flew to Burlington, took a taxi to the Canadian...

To Go Now or To Delay?

There has been loads of discussion on this point at this forum and elsewhere. IMO, this may be technically correct for the purposes of saving ties with the country of nationality, but if someone brings this up as a H&C argument at the IAD hearing concerning non-comliance with the residency...

To Go Now or To Delay?

I remember our PM giving a speech at the start of the pandemic when he said it was time for Canadians to come home, and he repeated that. The current advice is against leaving Canada not against coming back. So, someone's decision to stay outside Canada is not backed up by any governmental...

Missed appeal deadline for PR renewal

From my reading of case law about extension of appeal deadlines I remember a case where someone missed the deadline by one day. But the last day of the period was some religious holiday and the person was actively practicing their religion and, thus, the deadline was extended. Whether your...

PR Card (New/Renewal) Processing Timeline 2020

I mailed the application on 2 February. AOR on 14 February. On 2 March the status went to "decision made". Since then no card, no letter, nothing. No reply to the web-form enquiry either.

    Applying for PRTD

If there are no documents to verify, they will request proof of H&C considerations. One will need time to collect such proof, them to process it. There could be an interview. Add to this possible procedural mistakes on either side. H&C applications COULD indeed take months. Not all of them, but...
