Hello Everyone,

I have some few questions, please kindly help:

  • If I receive my provincial nomination from a particular province, please can I land for the first time in another province since I don’t know anybody yet in Canada.
  • If I received a provincial nomination from a particular province, can I secure a job in another province in Canada.
  • How long does it take to receive my PR card after landing?
  • If I receive my PR and I finally land in Canada, please how long from the time I arrived in Canada will it take me if one of my siblings stated in the imm5406e form to start processing the relocation to Canada.
  • Can I apply for Canadian citizenship after been physically present in Canada for exactly 2 years only (any 2 years of a 5-year period)?
  • I f I work remotely for a Canadian company and living outside Canada (but paying tax in Canada) will that count towards eligibility period for Canadian citizenship?
Thank you very much.

- You can land in a different province but you need to provide a mailing address for your PR card in the province where you were nominated.
- Yes.
- Anywhere from a few weeks to 3 months.
- This question doesn't make sense. You can't sponsor a sibling for PR. They have to qualify on their own through an economic immigration program like Express Entry or PNP. Your sibling can apply at any time on their own if they qualify.
- No. You need to live in Canada for 3 out of 5 years to qualify for citizenship.
- No, it will not count.

Thank you very much scylla for your response.

Strange - So what is the main purpose of including my siblings in the imm5406e?

I read this somewhere from someone's post:
"If you want to sponsor a member of your family to come to Canada at some point in the future but they are not listed on your family info form they won't allow you.

Please how do I provide a mailing address for my PR card in the province where I am nominated when I don’t know anybody there yet. Please how can I handle this?

You are required to list all family members in your application. Only certain family members can be sponsored for PR later. If your siblings are minors (under 22 years old), they can only be sponsored together with your parents. It will take you at least 3 years after you move to Canada to qualify to sponsor your parents. If your siblings are adults, then you can only sponsor them if ALL of the following are true: (1) you are single; (2) you have no children; (3) both of your parents are deceased; (4) you have no other relatives in Canada (e.g. aunt, uncle).

In terms of an address to send your PR card, this is something you will need to figured out yourself. The easiest way to address this is to live in the province that nominated you when you first move to Canada.

If you received PNP from a province you must land there and try to relocate there. If you are only doing a soft landing and leaving Canada soon after landing you can land in another province but should relocate to the sponsoring province when you move permanently. If you are unable to find employment in the sponsoring province you can move to another province. Would make sure to keep proof that you did move to the PNP province and keep proof that you did try to resettle there (proof of applying to jobs in that province for example). If you are ever questioned you will have proof that you did try to settle in the province that accepted you. If there are concerns that you aren’t moving to the specific province you can be denied landing.

Thank you very much scylla and canuck78.

Please does it make it faster for my siblings to process their application if I already have my PR.?

Except for some very rare situations your siblings are considered completely independent applications. If the program allows them to claim points for a family member in Canada you’ll need to be living in Canada permanently before they can apply.

I have had the impression all along that the family members listed on the forms are eligible to relocate to canada if they want with minimal paper work.

That is not correct.

There is no where it states that family members can relocate with minimal paperwork. Your siblings have to meet immigration requirements and apply for PR just like you have.

That’s not the case and it actually can be more difficult to come to Canada on a temporary basis (work permit or study permit) if your siblings are in Canada because you have ties to Canada and are less likely to return home.

Hi everyone! There's a nice webinar coming up that anyone who just moved to Canada will find useful. It's a financial bootcamp and it's completely FREE.

As people living in the diaspora, one of the things that will set you up for success and quick adaptability is a solid financial foundation:
- Understanding how finances work in Canada and
- Knowing what financial mistakes to avoid

That's the whole essence of the Newcomer Financial Bootcamp.
Financial professionals will share insights about how taxes, credit, pension, insurance, and financial advisory work in Canada.

Click https://zoom.us/webinar/register/7516448395724/WN_WfF8NwEHQ_uRc6ljGvXH1A to save your spot now so you don't miss out! Registrations close on Thursday and spots are filling fast.

You can also share with your friends.
Cheers!
