Hello! In short, my question is essentially if IRCC refuses your PR application, do they communicate that to you through email or regular mail?

Here's more context:
- I'm a Canadian Citizen, my husband is an Italian Citizen and we applied for in-land spousal sponsorship in Mid-November 2021. So far, we have only received an acknowledgement or receipt (AOR) and a temporary application number.
- We were visiting my family over the holidays in another province. Our flight back home was cancelled and rebooked a few days later than anticipated, so while we were gone we missed a pick-up notice for a package. The package was held until right before returned back home. We have no idea what it could possibly be and we weren't expecting anything. Understandably, we're really worried that is something from the government.

Many thanks to anyone who could help!

Hi, since you already got AOR1 it’s definitely something else, not related to your application.

Refusals are via email. Normally you would get a PFL first (also via email).

The only reason there would be a package is if your application was returned for being incomplete. But that should only happen pre-AOR.

Ah sorry I misread your message. My bad. You said you already had AOR and then you said you only had a temporary application number. So it means you didn’t really get AOR. You get AOR1 when your application is checked for completeness. So there’s still a chance it might get returned. You should call the IRCC call center and see if there’s an update on your file.

Hey everyone! Just letting you know that the package had nothing to do with the PR application. But I hope that this thread will help anyone with similar questions in the future,

Just a general question about refusals:
I was having a disagreement with a person on this --
Can one still get a PFL (letter) after an in-person interview ?
