He’s not negative. I’m indeed a fan of @ImpatientKangaroo .. he speaks the truth about this shithole country called Canada. I personally have been living in this country for 5.5 years and can attest to what he says. There are no decent, professional jobs in this shithole, housing is a huge mess, wages are stagnant and don’t get me started on the shitty Canadian culture, politics, and their passive-aggressiveness. Oh boy! Fortunately, I’ve recently became a Citizen and have a one way ticket to the USA. Canada will never see me again, and you guys all should do the same.

I am in IT so I don't agree that there are no decent jobs in Canada, but as we are so quickly and daily reminded on this forum, IT peeps are the exception. I've never struggled to find a job in my almost 2 decade long career (even as a woman in IT), and Canada is no different for me though I've not been here for long and as a student no less.

Also, no amount of money will ever entice me to live in the US. Like, never.

ETA: South Africans are not native english speakers (I lived there for 21 years). Majority of the whites speak Afrikaans (a form of Dutch).

Also I'm not negative, but realistic and experienced with living in Canada. Fellas here will understand most of my points once they land. You're fucked in Canada if you're not in software/IT and/or if you're not going to QC/ON, simple as that. You need to be extremely lucky (like @Windsor37) in order for that to not be your fate in Canada. In any case, no matter what you do where you work, the shitty housing market WILL hit you and you'll feel like a dumbass to pay THAT much on THAT house, not even knowing you could've bought x2 the size on x2 the land in Texas.

Most people here are from the deepest depths of hell, unbelieveably shitty countries, so they have no choice other than Canada. Indonesia has more, it currently ranks 10th, whereas Canada didn't break top 10 (https://globalupside.com/top-10-manufacturing-countries-in-the-world/)

Looking at 2018 data, it seems that Indonesia is the only country that's 3rd world, and is outside of BRICS that beats out Canada, but Thailand isn't too far away. (https://www.indexmundi.com/facts/indicators/NV.IND.MANF.CD/rankings)

That would put it somewhere in Ukraine, or Belarus. My guess is Ukraine. Though it's also possible he's from Malaysia, given that his country seems to have quite a diverse economy since he mentioned he has an engineering profession, but didn't mention which field. Amongst the so-called 3rd world nations, Malaysia enjoys a relatively diverse economy, higher income, and more powerful passport, which makes sense since he did mention once that one of his backup plans was to stay where he is.
