Hi guys,

I have a query, 3 months ago I applied for a study visa from South America with my common law partner. A week ago they asked me for extra information about our relationship and we sent them bills for electricity, internet, photos, etc, etc.

Has the same thing happened to someone else? Is it a good sign? And in how long should we have an answer?

It means you didn't provide sufficient evidence to prove you are common law in your original application. Hopefully what you submitted in response to this request clearly demonstrates that you have at least one year of cohabitation (i.e. evidence dates back a year or more from the time you submitted your application). IRCC will focus on the evidence that proves cohabitation (e.g. joint bills, utilities, bank accounts, leases, etc.). They won't really care about the photos.

It can take anywhere from a few days to several months to hear an answer.

But I think the immigration guy doubt because we are an lgbt couple (two boys) haha… hopefully we send electricity bills from a year, Internet bills, Id with the same address also airplane tickets for our last vacation! Haha …I hope that's enough for the officer butI hope it doesn't take many months! my classes start on january 04

If all you sent with the original application was the rental contract from 2017, then it makes sense they requested more.

Anyway, all you can do now is wait.

We sent since 2017 (18,19,20 and the actual contract, 21) but you’re right, it’s time to wait.
