Hi,

I submitted for visitor visa before sending spousal sponsorship of my wife in August 2021. She got rejection on her visitor visa. I was just looking over some forms (Schedule A) and noticed that we marked "No" for any previous refusals, because at the time of sending those forms she wasn't rejected. The visitor was in process. Would this affect the PR sponsorship application? Please note that I have included a letter of explanation at the back of the sponsorship application regarding an ongoing visitor visa. I haven't lied on the application, it's just the situation changed.

What should I do? Should I call to notify them even without AOR?

You dont have to notify them if the visitor visa was rejected after the date you signed the spousal sponsorship application.

Don't contact them and give them something more to think about !
The visitor visa refusal should not affect the sponsorship application.....Your letter of explanation may be helpful for you.

Actually you should notify them about the Refusal. Wait for the AOR and notify. The thing is, when they will process your application, their system will show the refusal, not necessarily the date when it was issued. They might decide that you lied in your application and send you a procedural fairness letter. There is some jurisprudence with respect to this very situation. Those people won the case though, but I assume you don't want to get to that point. For greater assurance go to a lawyer, and you'll see that you have to notify them in order for avoiding any problems. This is more serious than you think.
