next election in 18 months

lol do you think Mr. Trudu will take another risk of losing the remaining of his power and career by calling a snap election again? well, at least Canadian politicians are not that dumb to make the same mistakes again I guess. If the election would have had placed 2 weeks back the result would have been totally a 180 degree opposite. Erin failed to maintain his lead after a weak last English debate which actually worked as a lifeline for the liberals. Lastly, Trudu relied on the vaccination drive entirely to believe he can win the majority so he called the election. So, unless he does something miraculous in the next 1-2 years to win the absolute majority we shouldn't think there will be another snap election. He is smart, damn smart, the smartest president that Canada had so far......

With more liberal going on there's no fate of FSW. They'll simply replace it with some truck driver program.
I am perfectly happy to be truck driver than an excel handling corporate slave in a cubical getting screwed every year for a hike inroder to payoff my mortgage which I cuffed myself with for 25 years, I can hit the road with open skies living in that small cabin.

It won't necessarily be up to him. With a minority he will rely on other parties to get his budget passed. If the NDP stops cooperating to pass budgets there will be another election.

The next few years are hard to predict. But there are mechanisms for elections without Trudeau calling them.

Don't demean truck drivers. Society would literally collapse without them.
The point is not to demean truck drivers. It's about replacing FSW with some low skill inside Canada program. You can replace truck drivers with anything, like laundry manager, restaurant cook, some dude chopping off head of a pig, etc, etc.

And you, my friend, you're at 521, either with some sort of MS/PhD, multiple years of O/A work experience, under 30, mastering various foreign languages, can't get a freaking ITA.

Now think about it.

Don't get me wrong. I'm mad about it. I've lost 3 years of my life, and I will likely never be where I wanted to be in life. But I try (although I get emotional and fail) not to make comparisons of low vs high skill. At the end of the day, if I really was 'highly skilled', I wouldn't be here. And it's these supposedly low skilled people allow us to work our cushy office jobs. We're just being pedantic because we fit a narrow (and kinda shitty) definition of highly skilled that IRCC made in a drunken stupor. And now we're mad because the rug was pulled from underneath us.

I was in the US at the height of trump mania which made companies stop sponsoring visas, and now I am unable to get to Canada because covid fundamentally changed candian immigration. It sucks, and I hate it, but like anyone else, I have to find a way to move on from trying to get to canada.

Honestly guys I don't understand it at all why you think border closures or India flight ban or these sort of reasons are behind the stopping of all programs draws. Literally none of them is logically related, as for each of them there is a solution availbale - Like Indians can travel via a third country, people could get COPR and wait till borders are opened and ... From ITA to COPR is already over a year gap, with such a fragile situation there is no logic to holf FSW applicants just because borders are closed. If I get an ITA tomorrow, am I gonna be in Canada by the coming weekend???

My opinion is that the Canadian government is reconsidering something about FSW applicants. I don't know what it is, I have no speculation or whatever. The only thing that my logic and common sense says is that the only group of people who are being intentionally ignored by the Canadian immigration system is FSW applicants, so there is something wrong with FSW and no other reason (pandemic, travel bans, ....). All other categories are affected by these factors too, yet FSW applicants are the only ones who are left out. It is crystal clear honestly, I don't know why you are confusing yourselves way too much to find any other reason behind this situation.

We don’t know if it was a political move; we’ll find out in October/November

Well if people are expecting any change soon, give up. They will run on how they were until they receive next order, which will not happen until the ministers take their cabinet positions, which might take until November.

No one is doubting the reason. As I have pointed out above and several months ago, they’re planning to focus more on people in Canada. E.g. opening up pathways for international students, workers, who wouldn’t qualify for EE otherwise. And all these quotas have to come from FSW. That’s the only reason.

It might take shorter, since there’s literally no change of incumbent government and reshuffling is not expected. The ministers should get the mandate sometime within October I suppose

I really do not intend to spread any negativity. We are all suffering. But I kinda feel like Canada has found something wrong with FSW program. You can see no other country is offering such a system. They are the one and only one (except for Australia which is kind of impossible without having an actual tie to the country). So perhaps they are reconsidering something about it. Again, this is just my opinion but I think it is more logical than those baseless speculations about FSW draws coming in October November December ....

I am dead sure that something is wrong with the FSW system in the eyes of the Canadian government, I do not know what it is and have no idea about it either. But I just want to tell you all, you need to relax about all those speculations. The problem is not pandemic, election, or whatever, Problem is FSW category itself if you ask me. However, I hope I am wrong by all means. , and I pray to God from the depth of heart that the next draw would be an all-program draw.

Still doesn’t make sense as a large proportion of these outland files are approved or almost finalized. Stalling these files is more work for IRCC because documents begin to expire

4 cabinet members lost their seats and due to mail in ballots, final count will probably only end Friday. Last election took over a month for the cabinet to actually startup.
