Hi,

I submitted my sponsor visa application in January as my husband is Canadian citizen, in March I just got an email to pay the biometric fees, i submitted the receipt soon after. I haven't even got biometric invite as yet after about 7 months waiting for the application to even be complete. Can anyone suggest what to expect how long it might take to get the invite and then processing time?

Call CIC (1888-242-2100) to ask the status of your application and they might be able to provide some info. Also, check ECAS using the receipt number (It should be on the fee paid receipt).

My application was received September 2nd last year and I just received AOR on the 23rd of July so I guess it varies a lot.

That's a while. Things should start to move on your file. Someone has moved the application to a pile of tasks for the next few weeks.

Hi,

CIC is Completely unreachable since a couple months, I have been sending emails every two weeks same response that processing times are slow due to covid but I'm concerned now because I have a lot of things stuck because of my PR application.

Jeez that's ridiculously long time!!!! I received AOR within two weeks of submission with biometric fees request, I submitted the receipt and then never heard back, I'm concerned because it will take another 6 months atleast after giving biometrics!!! Why can't they just send me a simple biometric invite this is crazy!!

well the first portion of the application is Sponsor approval which once you get that they process the rest. I submitted March of this year and got sponsor approval in July which followed with biometrics and medical request. If as the sponsor you’re in the middle of bankruptcy or on welfare it maybe why you havent Gotten your approval yet for your side. Additionally if none of those apply to you perhaps there are mistakes or missing documents which have paused your app. Get in touch with ircc be persistent when calling or send a web form or order your case notes. There is a backlog from 2019 as per the ircc website so even though some apps are getting processed complicated ones are in queue

It is ridiculous but since they are currently finalizing applications submitted in October 2019 I'd say we both have a long while to wait unfortunately.

I am in the same boat. Application received on march 2020. AOR on November 2020. Nothing afterward. Every time I call, they sponsor eligibility in the process. So frustrating!!

I'm sorry but the idea that they are now, in August 2021, just finalizing applications submitted in October 2019 is wrong, no matter how long the delays. My wife's application was submitted in January 2020 and has been concluded for 8 months.

I'm glad to hear that. The message is displayed on the IRCC website and I don't think they'd have any reason to lie. I guess the majority of cases aren't as luck as you were.

I don't think so. My partner is from London. I even got the MP involved. Its worrying seeing other people who sent after me are getting movements on their file, and my file is static.
Yes, I have also gotten my MP involved. From what I understand, the MP should be able to be more proactive after the 12-month threshold has passed which is your case.

It’s a general statement really. Of course there have been applications from 2020 that have been approved, and now that things are speeding up a bit, I’m sure there are applications from 2021 now finalized. (Haven’t had a chance to glance at the recent progress yet)

I’ve seen applications finalized anywhere from just under three months to over three years. There’s no hard and fast rule.
