Hello all,

a little worried, became a PR in late 2019 and have been on a #9SIN ever since. We completely forgot to get it changed.
Have applied to update to a new one but what are the Repercussions for letting your sin expire after receiving the PR?

You need to get in tough with Service Canada ASAP. A bit shocking that the SIN# starting with 9 is still working especially if it is expired and your employer has not been contacted. You’ll need to speak to Service Canada to see if you’ll need to refile things like your taxes with a permanent SIN#.
