Can I travel to the USA without a Canadian TRV? HELP!

I'm currently on a post graduate work permit and I read somewhere that I don't need to have a TRV to return to canada after visiting the United states. Has anyone done this before and is it true?

False, you do need a TRV to come to Canada. Unless you are from an excempt visa country.

You need a TRV. A work permit is not a TRV and doesn’t allow you to enter Canada. It allows you to work in Canada.

Okay so I did some research and the official CIC website says that people with a valid study/work permit/status in Canada can travel to USA and back without a TRV. But only if you're travelling to the states and no other country. Here's more info:
