Hi,

Hope this is the right place to post this question.

I am applying for my mother's tourist visa and I have a CoPR on which I cannot travel at the moment.
If I apply for a visitor visa for my mother, will I tick yes or no for any of the family members having a PR?

I am not sure since I officially don't hold a PR. If I pick no and later get the PR will this be considered a misrepresentation?

Also, how long does it take to get a tourist visa amidst the ongoing pandemic situation?

Thanks!

What status do you have in Canada? Your mother may either need special authorization or may not qualify to travel given the travel restrictions.

No status at the moment. I understand that she won't get to travel at the moment. I am just hoping she gets a tourist visa. We can wait till the travel restrictions are lifted to travel

Has your mother previously held a Canadian TRV and/or has she taken several previous trips to countries requiring visas such as the US, UK, etc.?

If not, I would very strongly recommend that you hold off applying for a TRV for your mother until after you have moved to Canada and have lived in Canada for 6-8 months

Thanks! Not to Canada but she has travelled to the US multiple times in the last 10 years. But does that make a difference for the time required to process the TRV application?

It's not that it makes a difference in terms of the time to process - it's that it increases the changes the TRV will be approved and lowers the chances of refusal.

If you apply now, there is some risk IRCC may be concerned you plan on trying to move your mother with you when you travel to Canada to become a PR.

If you wait and apply for the TRV after you have been living in Canada for 6-8 months, there's much less chance of that.

Oh I see. Thanks for the info! Will keep that in mind.
