I want to check if anyone has experience with delays in US federal tax processing/refunds for paper based filings ? I filed my taxes about 8 weeks back but don't see an update on the IRS "Where is my refund site". I know that there have been processing delays due to COVID for paper filings and want to check if anyone else has experienced the same.
I am a Canadian PR filing US taxes (paper taxes).

Same here.. I have IRS account and my status still shows 2020 tax not processed. It was paper filing done during first week of April.

hello, I filed it electronically end of march and until now its showing the same , still in process.. I already got My state refund. I dont have any idea how longggggg....

Did they at least show that the paper filing was received ? My tax filing does not show up as received even after 8 weeks. I am worried about if it was lost after being delivered. I have a delivery receipt from UPS.

Thanks for your response. I mentioned paper filing since the tax professionals I hired mentioned that non-resident filings can only be done through a paper filing. My paper filing for the state refund was processed already.

I am not getting a refund, but I owe IRS. I don't find any options to check filing status anywhere for cases that aren't getting any refund.. since I know what owe, I already made prepayment for amount I owe online through my account, so no way for me to find out through other means too.. like check encashment, bank deduction etc.

My accountant did not say that it could only filed paper filings because when i filed im no longer a resident there, But was able to get my state refund with in a week or 2.

Thank you for your responses. I was worried that my cross-border paper tax form was lost (after being delivered by UPS) since it does not show up on "where is my refund" webpage. But it now looks like there are several cross-border tax returns that have not bee processed.

2020 electronically filed on Feb 21st 2021. Finally the refund got approved as of today. 16th they would deposit refund.
Its not about waiting period for refund as its mainly about impact on taxable income i reported at Canadian side. If IRS doesnt recognize certain exemptions then it will make me refile Canadian side with more taxes.
My friend submitted in Feb 1st week and he got his refund in 3 weeks but seems later IRS started delaying.
