I am in the process of starting my PR application and will not have my spouse accompany me. However, my spouse will come later as a tourist to get to know Canada and look for job opportunities, and until then I will be saving money for our future, and when time permits it, get my spouse her PR.

Is this possible/allowed? I do not wish to give the impression to the CIC that I am trying to take advantage of the system by applying without my spouse coming initially.

I tried to look for more information regarding this, but since it has such generic terms, any search attempts lead to results that are unrelated.

So, in short:
  • I will apply for PR as married, but spouse will not accompany me
  • Spouse will come at a later time (perhaps after my PR is complete, or during its process) as a visitor (3 to 6 months)
  • Perhaps 1 year later, spouse applies for PR

Is this acceptable? Does anyone perhaps know where I can read more about this topic in the CIC official documentation? Or it can't be done like this, in which case I'd appreciate for an explanation on how to do this correctly.

Any scenarios are acceptable unless there is no misrepresentation which could lead to removal of PR status of the holder with a 5 year ban.
I am sure that's a typo, but I just want to confirm with you: did you mean "unless there is misrepresentation" or "unless there is no misrepresentation"?
