Is it possible to send passport across international mail?

I am in a tough situation- I applied to renew my visa from inside Canada (I hold a PGWP) but I have to leave Canada for family reasons. In the case where my visa isnt ready when I leave the country, is it possible to send my passport from abroad to get the visa stamped on it? I am aware there is risk of getting lost or something, but I am interested in the legal point of view. Anybody knows or has been in a similar situation?

What passport do you hold and what country are you in? It's not legal in some cases to send your passport internationally.

Thanks for the reply. I am currently in Canada and hold a Tunisian passport. Would be travelling to Tunisia and potentially send my passport from there. Any idea?

If the VAC in tunisia is open, you can stamp your passport from there. However, based on my knowledge regarding this particular issue, you have to inform ircc that you will be leaving Canada since you applied form within Canada.
